Microsoft .NET Security

SAP verifies interoperability with Microsoft .NET by testing specific scenarios. The following scenarios between SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 EHP1 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 have been tested:

  • Synchronous and asynchronous communication (WS-RM 1.1, SOAP 1.1) with non-addressable clients with:
    • Security on communication transport level using HTTPS and authentication methods
      • X.509 SSL Client Certificate (Transport Channel Authentication)
      • User ID/Password (Message Authentication)
      • X.509 Certificate (Message Authentication)
    • Security on message level using symmetric/asymmetric message signature/encryption and authentication methods
      • User ID/Password (Message Authentication)
      • X.509 Certificate (Message Authentication)

Further, WS-SecureConversation can be used to build a security context. SAP is currently leveraging WS-SecureConversation primarily to allow WS-ReliableMessaging to reuse a security context.
