The SAP BusinessObjects Explorer Mobile app (version 1.0.2) supports augmented reality on iPhone / iPad that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
Some of the key features in this release:
- Supports on-premise deployment and on demand if relevant data is available
- Allows grouping the points of interest (POI) according to the current zoom level of the map – if users zoom into the map they will see those points detached. On the settings of the app it is possible to select the number of the nearest POIs to be shown by default.
- Supports embedding links to take action.
- Allows users to switch to exploration mode where users can analyze further information about these points of interest.
- Augmented Explorer adapts according to the device capabilities: if there is a camera users will have the a camera view (ipad2, iphone)
- Allows to describe what is/what can be a POI
On Demand: Any existing dataset can be uploaded from excel to bi.ondemand.com. However, we need to take extra precaution on the format of the Augmented Explorer

When users open the augmented data sets the following screen is displayed.
The radar highlights the data visualized in the list. Filtering of the distance can be done by clicking on the radar and selecting the radius swiping the finger on the radar where the filter is applied on distance.
At the centre-bottom of the screen, we see an icon for list view and map views
At the bottom right corner, we the icons as below, using which we can sort the view by distance, measure, name and orientation.
Once the user switches to maps, there are three types of map views viz., Standard View, Satellite View and Hybrid View for consumption purposes.
User can click on any of the clusters and drill into more granular data.
