This wiki is for collecting new topics the Community would like to see added to the SAP BusinessObjects Value Added Samples and Demos project.
Please review our list of current demos and feel free to suggest new demos that you would like to see. You can do this by simply selecting the "Comments" tab, and pressing the "Add Comment" link. (You'll need to be signed in to SCN first to edit the wiki.) We will then copy applicable suggestions to the topic request table.
Check back regularly, as we'll do our best to deliver this to you via this wiki or even at an upcoming event. We will provide updates in the "Status" column.

| We would like to see examples of date trending reports with relative dates. We need to be able to report multiple time periods in one report. What we need to be able to do is report the past 12 months (showing each month) along with YTD and MTD. Also needing to bring in the previous 12 months and previous YTD for calculations but not show them on the report. So for example, % change for the YTD over Last YTD. | I need a real on-line tutorial on how to create a new report, including how to link the databases, where to go to find the fields to select, how to format the report sections, how to specify the sort order of the report. Your website is extremely difficult to navigate and it's impossible to talk to a live person. A real person who has this knowledge would be worth their weight in gold for you. I've used Crystal reports since 2003 and have just upgrade to 2008 and cannot get a new report created. Needless to say I'm very frustrated as I've spent at lease 3 complete days wasting my time with this, and it needs to be usable right away. This is a script that we used to use at events such as Tech Ed. We can't really create an on-line tutorial for you as this Value Added Samples and Demos program is for the creation of sample reports only...so hopefully the script will help out. You mentioned that it is difficult to find resources to help you out with crystal reports...if you need to get some advice or an answer, my recommendation is to use the Forums for Crystal Reports as there are many experts (internal and external) to answers any questions that you may have with crystal reports. I am positive that you will find this forum helpful. |

I think it should be as simple as changing the field format from memo to HTML , but would like to see how other handle it. We are storing the text in a database then what to bring it into the Crystal report and display it as pic- an ingredient label.

as for the html one, please look on the forums for activating "pass through html" on your businessobjects enterprise servers. this allows html to be shown on a crystal report. this is different than the html interpretation option on text objects...this will only allow a certain number of tags of html to be shown. pass through html allows formulae and fields to have full html on a report.
as you have your html in a database, there is only one potential issue that i can remember, and that is paging. when you put html on a crystal report, after activating pass through html, the crystal report does not have a mechanism to calculate the size (height and width) the html will be on the page. therefore the html could run over the end or side of the page. however, if your html in your database is a consistent page size for each database line, then a new page after each details line may work for you.
activating pass through html is supported by customer assurance, however the html is not. this means that you can get support to pass through working, but what happens after that is only supported by consultancy services.
you can also check out the webelements section for crystal reports as there are instructions there on how to activate pass through html.

this wiki is for people to post requests for demos or samples for xcelsius or crystal reports. if you want to make a request for a feature in crystal reports please see the Feature Requests forum post at the top of http://forums.sdn.sap.com/forum.jspa?forumID=300&start=0\\
however, if you use webelements controls on your report you can default a date parameter to the current date...there are several different types of date controls that you can embed directly on a report (or create a custom prompt page with the controls) such as calendars (single and range) text box with date format, or date select.

For extra credit, is there a way to use the SDK to archive any purged reports to a directory on the server.
