This section will cover the Consolidations area of SAP (SEM-BCS, EC-CS, EPM BPC?)
Wikipedia defines consolidation (or amalgamation) as mergers and acquisitions of many smaller companies into much larger ones.
The consolidation accounting function is usually performed at the parent company or headquarters and involves all subsidiary entities' financial statements which become one final financial report usually provided to those with financial interests or owners, management, investors, and creditors.
In the German version of Wikipedia, the equivalent translation is 'Konsolidierung' which applies to two areas: accounting and technology.
This area seems more applicable to accounting (Konzernabschluss), but the actual technology is not far behind (OLAP).
