Preparing for Changes in the New SCN

This list highlights some of the things that will change in the New SCN, with a focus on what users can do to prepare:

Change

Impact to Users

Suggested Action

"Watches" will not be migrated Watches that you've set up will be lost. Catalog your watches for yourself and re-assign in new site.
RSS feeds Existing feeds may not work.
Record current feeds for later recovery.
Blogs in "draft mode" will not be migrated If your blog is in "draft mode", it will not be migrated and therefore will be lost. If you want to keep your blog as a draft you will need to make sure you copy it into Word or have some sort of local copy so you can recreate the draft in the new SCN.
Business card
Public exposed fields may change, new fields available, "friends" likely to be lost
Screen shot and/or text copy your existing business card to know how it looked before.
Articles and eLearning Homepages/Catalog Directories being Replaced You'll have to locate the space related to the topic, product or industry to find related articles and eLearning. Both articles and eLearning will appear under "document" To find articles and eLearning, go to the desired space and select the content tab.  Then select documents.
To see all articles and eLearning, go to: scn.sap.com (homepage) >  browse > content > documents
Web pages How can I create new Web pages? There are no longer any “web pages” in the community – only Jive Documents. We will have to use Jive Documents in place of web pages on the new site. Any registered member can create them. However, you will eventually have permissions as a Space Editor that will allow you to edit the Space Overview page (similar to a homepage).
Uploading content In the Sandbox system, when I choose the “Content” tab, I can see all the content of this area. I assume the “Upload a file” feature replaces the old content submission system of SDN. But how can I easily find my uploaded content: can I filter by content creator? “Upload a file” will no longer be available. Non-SAP members will create blogs and documents on the platform itself. SAP employees are able to submit articles through the CSS system, which will be synced with KM and thus the new platform.
Topic spaces What does “Subspaces” mean? I expect this to be the area where I find the former SDN topic pages which were migrated. Is this correct? A subspace is a space on a topic that is more specific than the main space under which it falls. For example, a main space might be CRM, and a sub-space to that might be “CRM for Marketing.”
SDN Wikis Where are the SDN wikis? These will remain on the current site and can be found here: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki

.

Old blog posts I cannot access my migrated blog posts Please make sure you are logged in on the welcome/home page. After being logged in, then you should be able to have full access. If you’re still having problems logging in, please visit the Support Space+:+ http://scn.sap.com/community/support
Key Topic Pages Some key topic links go to old SDN. Were the pages not migrated? You are correct - some key topics pages will not be migrated. To find out where certain forums, spaces and blog topics have been migrated, please visit the Getting Started Space: http://scn.sap.com/community/getting-started
Add Widgets How can I add additional widgets to a page? Could not find this feature. This would be something that only Content Strategists can do for now.
Add Featured Content How can I add featured content to the main area? For now, this would be done by the CAM working with their Content Strategist (and the Content Strategist would do this).
Edit Existing Pages How can I edit existing pages? Could not find this feature. As mentioned above, this is something that Content Strategists can do
