This page gives an overview of the available SAP MaxDB versions and shows where you can find information about which version is supported for which application.

Product Availability Matrix (PAM)
General information
Information about supported SAP MaxDB versions can be found in the Product Availability Matrix (PAM). You can find this matrix in the SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com) -> SAP Support portal -> Release and Upgrade Info -> Maintenance Strategy -> Product Availability Matrix.
First you have to choose the used SAP application. For older SAP releases you might have to look in SAP Product Versions in customer specific maintenance since Jan 2007.
Choose the used product and the product version. On tab Database Platforms you can see all supported database systems. Choose SAP MaxDB and the relevant operating system. The list then shows, which combinations of SAP MaxDB and OS versions are released for the selected product.
Column Released (External) and Comments are important - please check if there are any restrictions mentioned.
If a database version is not in this list, it is not supported for this product.
SAP MaxDB Content Server
Which SAP MaxDB version is available as a Content Server for Knowledge Warehouse can be determined in PAM as follows:
SAP Technology Components -> SAP CONTENT SERVER -> SAP CONTENT SERVER [6.30|6.40] -> Database Platforms -> SAP Content Server
Business Warehouse
The path in PAM for BW systems depends on the used SAP Basis release:
BW system 3.0 or 3.1
are based on SAP release 6.20. The released SAP MaxDB version can be found as follows:
SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver Components (before SAP NW 04) -> SAP BW -> SAP BW <3.0B|3.1 Content> -> Database Platforms -> BW Server
BW-System 3.5
is based on SAP release 6.40. The released SAP MaxDB version can be found as follows:
SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 04 -> Database Platforms -> Business Intelligence (BI)
Adaptive Computing Controller
Which SAP MaxDB versions are released for Adaptive Computing can be determined as follows:
SAP Technology Components -> ADAPTIVE COMPUTING CONTROLLER ADAPT. COMP. CONTR. 1.00 -> Database Platforms -> Adaptive Computing Controller
SAP Solution Manager
Which SAP MaxDB versions are released for SAP Solution Manager can be determined as follows:

Prerequisites for CCMS transactions
When a new SAP MaxDB version is released for an 'old' SAP release, some transactions might not run anymore. You have to make sure that some prerequisites are fulfilled. Please pay attention to note 382312 to make sure that you have applied the required Basis SPs and SAP kernel patches.
