Business Object Modeling
This part of the design guideline focuses on the design rules for Business Objects with their structure.
Based on the ESI Meta Model the building principles for a business object model are described by a
step by step guidance. That includes the definitions of a business object, its nodes and relationships,
and the naming conventions. Further topics addressed in this part include the description of several
basic modeling concepts and patterns to be used as standard building blocks during business object design.

Service Operation Design
This part addresses the design of Service Operations is by presenting an approach to the systematic derivation
of service operation signatures from business objects.
This Derivation by Hierarchization ensures cross-operation integrity by allowing the creation of
operation signatures in a consistent way via a set of rules.
The structure of operation signatures and hence messages and message types are described in detail.

Global Data Type Design
This part is dedicated to the design rules for Global Data Types (GDTs). The steps necessary to define a

Documentation and Naming
This part addresses the documentation and naming aspects of business object modeling.
This includes guidelines for finding and defining an appropriate term and the corresponding name for a
business concept and highlights traps that should be avoided during the design.
