ABAP and J2EE Application Servers, to minimize admin overhead, most likely as doublestack (if install tools allow)
Two versions planned: MaxDB 7.8 and DB2 for LUW 9.7 , both in 64bit mode for Linux x86_64 platform
We will get a custom tailored Virtual Machine from Novell with SLES11, prepared for the installation, Java version pre-installed, disk layout custom tailored for subsequent SAP installation.
Guidelines for Installation of master system: Use separate disk devices for directories belonging to SAP system. Easy way to achieve this: link /usr/sap/SID to a directory on one physical disk, relocate home directories of OS users (sapsid, users created by db install) to suitable dirs ( /usr/SAP/SID/home, /Sapdb/home) on this disk, for MaxDB directory /sapdb
a) use a package script to pack SAP directories (/usr/sap/SID, home directories, database directories) into compressed archives
b) Actions triggered by Install script: Create users and links, unpack above archives on target machine
