We will get a custom tailored Virtual Machine from Novell with SLES11, prepared for the installation, Java version pre-installed, disk layout custom tailored for subsequent SAP installation.
Installation method:
Guidelines for Installation of master system: Use separate disk devices for directories belonging to SAP system. Easy way to achieve this: link /usr/sap/SID to a directory on one physical disk, relocate home directories of OS users (sapsid, users created by db install) to suitable dirs ( /usr/SAP/SID/home, /Sapdb/home) on this disk, for MaxDB directory /sapdb
a) use a package script to pack SAP directories (/usr/sap/SID, home directories, database directories) into compressed archives
b) Actions triggered by Install script: Create users and links, unpack above archives on target machine
